Silhouette Prints

When my older sister turned 40 this past February, I spent quite a bit of time wracking my brain for a good gift. After realizing that I have gotten her enough cookbooks and flower bouquets over the years, I had the idea to carve custom linocuts of her kids’ silhouettes and print them for her. I stealthily Facetimed my niece and nephew and got them to turn to their profile so I could screengrab their faces, then went to work turning the photos into linocuts. I sent sets of 4 prints in different ink and paper color combinations to my sister, not only giving her a few sets of her own, but gifting her this year’s Christmas present for her in-laws. Win-win!
